Shockwave Therapy in White Rock
A non-invasive, highly effective technological treatment designed to aggressively accelerate the recovery of chronic tendon issues and stubborn musculoskeletal pain.
Break Through Chronic Micro-Tears
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is heavily utilized worldwide in orthopedics, physiotherapy, and sports medicine. It works by sending acoustic waves of high energy directly into tissues that are facing sub-acute, sub-chronic, and chronic failure conditions (like heavy scar tissue buildup).
At Fortis Physiotherapy, we use this advanced equipment to "re-injure" the tissue on a purely microscopic level. This powerful stimulation forces your body's stalled natural healing process to jump-start itself again, increasing local blood flow and breaking up frustrating calcium deposits.

Stubborn Conditions Reversed
Shockwave Therapy is uniquely effective at breaking down old tissue damage that refuses to heal on its own.

The Biological Healing Process
How high-energy acoustic pulses physically repair damaged connective tissue.
New Blood Vessel Formation
The acoustic waves create micro-ruptures that force your body to build entirely new blood supply vessels (neovascularization).
Dissolving Calcium
Massive energy pulses aggressively break up calcific buildup in torn tendons that normal manual therapies cannot affect.
Collagen Production
Accelerates the synthesis of procollagen, aligning fibers properly so the newly rebuilt tendon is dense and rigid.
Fast Pain Reduction
Lowers the concentration of "Substance P," a specific neurotransmitter directly responsible for sending deep pain signals to your brain.
Eradicate Stubborn Pain Fast
Have you tried everything else without success? Shockwave Therapy is often the final solution for chronic tendon pain. Book your specialized session in White Rock today.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does shockwave therapy hurt?expand_more
Because we are actively breaking down hard, stubborn tissue, there can be mild to moderate discomfort during the procedure. However, the exact application lasts only about 5 minutes, and most patients tolerate it exceptionally well. The therapist constantly communicates with you to adjust the intensity perfectly to your tolerance.
How many total sessions will I need?expand_more
Due to the high-energy nature of the treatment, most chronic conditions require exactly 3 to 6 treatments, spaced roughly 5 to 7 days apart to allow the newly formed blood vessels time to heal. Many patients report a massive reduction in pain after just the first or second session.
Is there any downtime after a treatment?expand_more
While you can easily drive home and return to desk work immediately, we strongly advise patients to completely avoid high-impact activities, heavy weightlifting, and aggressive running for 48 hours following each Shockwave session to protect the localized healing process.
Should I use Ice afterward?expand_more
No. We actively want to promote an intense inflammatory response, as this is how the body heals. Applying ice will drastically reduce the blood flow and severely limit the effectiveness of the treatment.
